Programme Ideas

Fota Scout Centre offers the following key activities:
  • Orienteering
  • Cobh Treasure Trail
  • Nature Trail
  • Pioneering

Unlimited access to all of the activities below during your stay at Fota for a one off charge of €20. In addition the store also contains games material (footballs, hurleys, frisbees, giant checkers) and various items to build your own custom designed assault course (ropes ladders, nets, tyres etc) and team building games. The use of an instructor, subject to availability, for pioneering can be arranged for a charge of €20 / hour (payable directly to the instructor). Please indicate when booking if you will require a pioneering instructor.

Fota Island
On the island the following activities are available (separate from the Centre)
  • Wild Life Park
  • Fota Wildlife Park offer educational courses for Scout & Guide Groups on the Husbandry of Exotic Animals, min. 15 participants any day Monday to Friday, cost €13 per head. Bookings should be made to the Educational Dept. of Fota Wildlife Park (main # 021-4812678, email info@fotawildlife.ie)
  • Fota House & Gardens

Cobh
In Cobh there is the 'Queenstown Story', swimming pool (Aura Leisure Centre), visits to the Naval Base can be arranged through the Scout Centre (subject to Naval activities), cruise liners also visit Cobh on a regular basis.


Cork
In Cork there are numerous activities some of which are listed below:
  • Blackrock Castle & Observatory
  • Lifetime Lab
  • St Fin Barr's Cathedral
  • The Old City Gaol
  • Mardyke Sports Area (climbing wall and swimming pool)
