Fota Scout Centre is situated on Fota Island 15 km east of Cork City off the N25.

Cork Map

The Centre may be accessed by rail or road. Due to the size of the roads in the estate a 50 seater bus can reach the Centre with care but not park up for a long duration. Car parking space is limited around the site.

The Eircode (postcode) is T45 CP02, Eircodes are recognised by Google Maps and Garmin sat navs as a valid postcode. The Centre's latitude and longitude is 51.896790 (51°53'48.4"N), -8.316893 (8°19'00.8"W). If your sat nav does not recognise the Eircode but accepts Loc8 codes (certain Garmin and TomTom sat navs) you can enter the Loc8 code W8R-36-L44.

Train

Fota Scout Centre is located 200 meters from Fota Island train station on the Cork - Cobh rail line. Trains run once an hour between Cork and Cobh. Exiting the station, walk past the entrance to the Wildlife Park and the Centre is the next path on your left. Downloadable timetables for the Cork - Fota / Cobh Line can be found on Irish Rails main page. Fares for the Cork - Fota / Cobh line can be viewed here, child fares are generally 50% of the adult fare.

Road

The entrance to the Scout Centre is through the 'Green Gate', which is situated about 1 .5 km after the entrance to Fota Island Resort (towards Cobh). Caution, this gate is located on a bad bend. See bottom of page for map showing the road through the estate from the 'Green Gate' to the Scout Centre. The 'Green Gate' now closes (not locked) at 8pm until 6am at the request of the Golf Club (owners of the entrance way and gate). As there is not sufficient area for drivers to pull in safely off the main road to open the gate we request that your group arrives before 8pm or arrive by train. If cars must arrive after 8pm notice must be given in advance so that we can arrange for a warden to come down and open the gate in advance allowing the car to drive in without having to stop.
